Chris Spence
Writer/Editor Earth Negotiations Bulletin
Chris Spence is an Editor and consultant with Earth Negotiations Bulletin. He rejoined the team in 2019 after several years working on other projects.
From 2012 to 2018, Chris worked for the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, a major non-profit headquartered in San Francisco focused on the protection and conservation of iconic public lands like the Presidio, Alcatraz, and Muir Woods. At the Conservancy, Chris served as Executive Vice President of Strategy and Partnerships.
Before his time in San Francisco, Chris worked internationally on sustainable development, conservation, climate change, and health policy, holding leadership positions at non-profit organizations in New York, New Zealand, and California. He also consulted widely for the United Nations, IUCN-World Conservation Union, and the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD).
Chris is an award-winning writer and the author or co-author of several books, including Global Warming: Personal Solutions for a Healthy Planet (Palgrave Macmillan, 2005). Chris has served on a number of boards and advisory groups over the years. He holds Master of Arts (Hons.) and Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and Political Science from Victoria University, New Zealand.
Originally from the United Kingdom, Chris recently moved with his family from the United States to Dublin, Ireland.
